Quote Of The Day, Connecticut: A Primer

Quote Of The Day, Connecticut [QOTDCT] operates on a series of different platforms, and while their content is similar, there are significant differences among them all. Here’s our primer on all of them, as we get ready to start our latest season of quotes:

– The Quote Of The Day page on Twitter has been operating the longest and features the most content. Quotes are posted on weekdays from late August to late June, while a Song Of The Day is posted every day. Every effort has been made never to repeat a quote or a song (although on a few occasions, live versions of a previously showcased song may be included). You’ll also see coverage of musical events in the state [#RecentConcerts] – and sometimes outside [#OutsideOfCT] – along with coverage of other newsworthy events [#RecentEventsInCT].

– If you’re just interested in the quotes and songs, check out our Facebook page. It also includes more background information, such as how a quote may connect to a current news story. Often there will be more information about a song choice that’s exclusive to the Facebook page.

– The newest of the platforms (starting in 2017), our Instagram page not only features all the quotes, but also has additional pictures from the events that we cover. (Typically the quotes will be posted on Instagram first, followed by Facebook, and then Twitter.)

– While not updated as often as we’d like, our YouTube page features footage from such annual events in the state as Stamford’s Balloon Parade. There are also several playlists devoted to various themes that have shown up on the quote pages – from Christmas songs to music for horse lovers!

– The stories on our WordPress page have featured everything from musical tributes to statistical studies to detailed looks at political controversies. It’s also used for the annual Quote Challenge, which takes place for ten weekdays every December.

We strive for original content, so you’ll see very few re-tweets – or much commentary on other posts. However, we do our best to thank all those who support our posts with a #FridayFeeling message on Twitter at the end of each week. We also do not advertise – and perhaps for this reason, our posts may not show up as prominently as others on our followers’ timelines. To us, conveying these messages directly is a better approach than tailoring them to meet trends in social media analytics.

At the same time, this is clearly going to be a very busy year – and we’re committed to spreading messages of real inspiration, not simple platitudes. We’ll do our best to be responsive to the issues of the moment. Doing so without advertising isn’t easy, so that’s where we hope you’ll come in. Instead of a monetary donation, the only support we’ll be asking of you is to share our content from time to time. We don’t expect to make a major difference, but we do think that every little bit helps. The new Quote Of The Day season begins today, and we hope you’ll stay with us on this journey. Thanks in advance for the support.
